Mivo Technology is now a member of OMS-Group

We are proud to announce that Mivo Technology has joined the OMS-Group e. V. (Open Metering System) — an international organization dedicated to promoting open, standardized and interoperable metering solutions based on the M-Bus protocol.

Today, the group consists of more than 70 companies from 22 countries, all committed to creating smart and future-proof systems for collecting data from electricity, water, heat and gas consumption — regardless of the manufacturer.

By joining OMS-Group, we strengthen our commitment to openness, transparency and sustainable innovation in building automation and smart metering.

This is a natural step in our mission to support smarter, more energy-efficient buildings for the future.

What is OMS?

Measurement system for energy conversion

OMS is the only open and standardised energy measurement system that brings together consumption values from all energy sectors in one system: electricity, gas, thermal energy and water — for both metering and sub-metering.

In addition, OMS is compatible with the international communication standard for building technology, KNX. It enables direct integration with building automation, energy management and smart home systems. Communication is based on the proven M-Bus standard. The OMS specification is open and can be implemented without patent requirements.

The OMS specification describes the communication path between an OMS device, such as a meter, and an installed communication device (gateway) in both directions. The specification is publicly available and can be implemented patent-free by any interested party.

The standard for remote reading of smart meters

Based on M-Bus, the Open Metering System (OMS) is the only system definition in Europe that integrates all media — electricity, gas, heat and water (including submetering) — into a single system.

OMS-Group e. V. is a non-profit organization and advocacy group consisting of meter manufacturers, energy companies, metering operators, electronics companies, communications companies and IT companies.
